Pink & Powerful

Pink & Powerful: A Female Collective
curated by Alessandra Redaelli

The Punto sull’Arte gallery in Varese presents a “pink” exhibition dedicated to the female world. This pink, far from clichés, is chosen as a symbol of joy, sisterhood, and resilience. In celebration of International Women’s Day, the inauguration will take place on March 8th, to honor the power and creativity of contemporary female artists in this Pink & Powerful exhibition, expressing a strong and nuanced femininity rooted in tradition.

“The Pink & Powerful exhibition pays tribute to emblematic figures such as Hilma Af Klint, with her spiritualist abstractionism, and Kiki Smith, who explores the dialogue with nature. The enchanted atmospheres of Leonora Carrington and the visionary work of Katsushika Ōi accompany the pop edge of Pauline Boty and visual poetry…” Extract from the critical text by Alessandra Redaelli.

The works of Annalù envelop us in the hypnotic vortex of her Dreamcatchers, while Claudia Giraudo uses the lamb as a symbol of the sacrifice of femicide victims. Ilaria del Monte creates magical rooms where the dialogue among women becomes enchantment, and Alice Zanin invites us to join in the flight of her floating, light, and authentic birds.

Lara Martinato presents the powerful figure of the samurai woman, a contrast to the traditional submissiveness of the geisha. The reinterpretations of Disney characters by Sabrina Milazzo and the investigation of overtourism by Valentina Diena highlight the talent for hyper-realistic detail. Valeria Vaccaro, with her Supermina, encourages women to rewrite their destinies in pink.

Marika Vicari offers an emotional landscape tinged in sepia, blessed with crimson petals, while Valentina Ceci transforms architecture into a dream. Silvia Levenson explores toxic love through two boxing gloves, and Lene Kilde takes us back to lost childhood with her light girls. Finally, Jill Höjeberg narrates the power of the female body with sinuous marble sculptures, celebrating the strength of giving life.
