Catalogue of the group exhibition: “Pink & Powerful” at Galleria PUNTO SULL’ARTE

A “pink” exhibition to talk about women. A pink that goes beyond clichés, chosen instead as a symbol of joy, sisterhood, unity, and female resilience. In this spirit, Galleria PUNTO SULL’ARTE—an all-female organization founded and managed by Sofia Macchi—celebrates International Women’s Day. Curated by Alessandra Redaelli, the exhibition highlights how today’s female artists are able to give voice to a feminine spirit that is gentle yet relentless, deeply rooted in the great tradition of the women artists who came before them and shaped their paths.

The multicolored poetry of Annalù draws us into the beauty of her Dreamcatchers, fiberglass sculptures that captivate viewers with hypnotic spirals and swirling motion. Claudia Giraudo, working in oil on canvas, uses the figure of the lamb as a symbol of the blood sacrifice of femicide victims. Ilaria Del Monte creates paintings with mystical meaning, depicting rooms where the dialogue between women becomes magic and enchantment, while Alice Zanin invites us to witness the flight of her floating birds—lightweight papier-mâché sculptures, highly faithful to their real-life counterparts.

Lara Martinato, through the use of gold leaf and the iconic, powerful figure of the samurai woman (a counterpoint to the traditional submissiveness of the geisha), initiates a dialogue between painting, iconography, and mysticism. The Disney character reinterpretations by Sabrina Milazzo, rendered strictly in oil on canvas, and Valentina Diena’s exploration of overtourism, executed in colored pencil on paper, both reflect pop culture influences. Despite their differing approaches, both artists demonstrate exceptional attention to hyperrealistic detail.

Then there is Valeria Vaccaro, who with her Supermina sculptures—pencils made from white Carrara marble—invites women to rewrite their own destinies: in pink. Marika Vicari contributes graphite-on-wood drawings of forests, enriched with watercolor, transforming them into emotional landscapes. Valentina Ceci, using her trusted ballpoint pen, bathes one of her architectural works in pink, stripping it of cold design rationality and casting it into the realm of dreams.

If Silvia Levenson warns us that toxic love can take the form of two boxing gloves, skillfully crafted in concrete, Lene Kilde takes us back to lost childhood with her little girls made of concrete, metal wire, and “air.” Lastly, the curving, sinuous marble sculpture by Jill Höjeberg speaks of the female body and its powerful ability to give life.

The thirteen artists of Pink & Powerful enchant us by portraying reality through the eyes of “her,” with works that challenge not only our perception but also our social constructs.
