Modern Freedom: Jernej Forbici Exhibits at the Pilecki Institute in New York

PUNTO SULL’ARTE is delighted to announce that Jernej Forbici, a long-standing artist of the gallery, will take part in the group exhibition Modern Freedom, opening at the Pilecki Institute in New York on May 19. Forbici will exhibit Memories IV, a large-scale painting of remarkable visual impact.

Modern Freedom, curated by Piotr Franaszek, Tomáš Koudela, and Wojtek Radtke, explores the profound experience of the peoples of Central and Eastern Europe, marked by the traumas of war and the violence of the totalitarian regimes of the twentieth century. The exhibition tells stories of human vulnerability and fear, but also of courage and the relentless search for truth.

The exhibition unfolds as an ever-evolving narrative. The objects, sculptures, installations, drawings, paintings, films, and texts on display are not mere illustrations of identity, but visible expressions of processes taking place at the intersection of memory, existential tension, and aspiration.

Modern Freedom presents contemporary art as a realm of openness and dialogue, founded on mutual respect. The exhibition will remain on view until August 31, 2026.
