Sabrina Milazzo, born in 1975 in Turin, began her exhibition career in 2003 after graduating in Painting from the Academy of Fine Arts. She participated in prestigious Italian fairs such as MiArt and ArtFiera Bologna. Her works have found spaces in both private galleries and public institutions, both in Italy and abroad. Furthermore, her paintings have crossed national borders and have been presented in Singapore and South Korea. In recent years, her work has been exhibited at major industry fairs in Europe and the United States, including ArtContext Miami. She has participated in numerous international events, notably presenting her work at the eleventh edition of ArtStays, the International Festival of Contemporary Art in Ptuj, Slovenia.

 

I first saw your works displayed at the PUNTO SULL’ARTE gallery a couple of years ago, and while talking with the gallery owner Sofia, I immediately expressed my curiosity about your pieces. Now it is time to explore the journey you have undertaken in this fantastic world that is unfamiliar to me… 

“I have always shown a strong interest in oil painting, which remains my preferred medium. I love figuration and reality. In the past, I was a hyperrealist painter, but I wanted to find a distinctive style that set me apart from merely representing reality. Currently, my paintings are inspired by the figurines of Ledraplastic, from Disney to Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. My work today begins primarily with researching the subjects. The second phase is the preparation of the covering and pouring it over the figurine: I create a photographic set with lights and colored lamps and try to take as many photographs as possible, aiming to capture what will soon melt away and disintegrate…”
