ALICE ZANIN AL PALAZZO DELLA PERMANENTE

The installation “The Great Hippocampus Question” ALICE Zanin will be exhibited at the PALAZZO DELLA PERMANENTE in Milan from 17th May 2016 to 5th June 2016.

ALICE ZANIN plays with the changing shapes of nature and fantasy, she sculpts imaginary pseudo-scientific entities, shaping paper sculptures inspired by the suggestions of her reading of scientific articles, treatises on biology, literature, mythology, and publications of the nineteenth century in the balance between laughter and reason. The installation “The Great Hippocampus Question”, designed for the Company of the Permanente in Milan, is part of a larger project that includes various display stages with symbolic works that revolve around the theme of the origin of species theorized by Charles Darwin, of creationism by Sir Richard Owen, and other sons of the positivist thinkers culture intrigued by the alleged relationship between primate and man. Her creatures, light as air, threadlike as algae, hovering in space, surprise the viewer.
