According to the Greek philosopher Heraclitus, “a man’s character is his daimon.” For Plato, the daimon is the force that allows human beings to rise toward the supersensible. It is a code of the soul, according to writer James Hillman, carrying within it both character and destiny, guiding each person’s deepest choices. A sort of guiding spirit or inner voice, an invisible entity that urges human beings to fulfill their true potential — and also a primordial, untamed soul, as suggested by the title of the exhibition Wild Souls, inaugurated last Saturday at Galleria Punto Sull’Arte in Varese.
