HANDMADE 2.0 | Ptuj City Gallery, Slovenia

A public exhibition in PTUJ in Slovenia for 4 of the artists of the gallery PUNTO SULL’ARTE.

LENE KILDE, SILVIA LEVENSON, VALERIA VACCARO and ALICE ZANIN are among the artists invited on the occasion of the great exhibition Handmade 2.0, opening Saturday, March 18 at PTUJ CITY GALLERY.

The second season of Handmade reflects on today’s observer’s inclination to transcend the traditional reading of human culture of interpreting manual skill only as a feminine practice because it is so historically understood. It does so by aiming directly at the artistic creation of more complex and articulated dialogues and techniques, capable of generating new structures of thought and aesthetic actions.

The exhibition Handmade 2. 0, presented in the Ptuj City Gallery is divided into five rooms in a path marked by an ideal red thread between unique international artists: Anna Galtarossa, LENE KILDE, Marcela Cernadas, Rósa Sigrún Jónsdóttir, Mojca Smerdu, Andrea Salvatori,VALERIA VACCARO, Maruša Štibelj, ALICE ZANIN, Nicolo’ Quirico, Blažka Križan, Ōki Izumi, Vanni Cuoghi, SILVIA LEVENSON and Mariantonietta Bagliato.

The work of art withHandmade 2. 0 goes beyond our hands, our thinking minds and our vibrant

bodies, it challenges the times in a kaleidoscope of shapes, colours, lines, surfaces that we have seen and experienced and all those that we would still like to be able to tell and reveal through new desires and emotions.

The exhibition is curated by Marika Vicari and Jernej Forbici in cooperation with Dušan Fišer.

The Opening Reception will be on SATURDAY 18 MARCH 2023 at 6 p.m. and a trilingual catalogue with texts, installation photos and contributions by Marika Vicari, Jernej Forbici and Dušan Fišer will be presented during the exhibition.

The project, financed by the Municipality of Ptuj, is realised by the Ptuj City Gallery in cooperation with Art Stays. The exhibition will remain open until 30 April 2023 with the following opening hours: Tuesday-Sunday 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
