Echi di Luce | O. De Lucchi – R. Minotto

Exhibition ECHI DI LUCE: Ottorino De Lucchi e Raffaele Minotto
curated by Alessandra Redaelli.

Discover the dual personal exhibition “ECHI DI LUCE,” featuring the works of Ottorino De Lucchi and Raffaele Minotto at the PUNTO SULL’ARTE gallery.

Critical Text: The exhibition “ECHI DI LUCE” offers a fascinating combination of the works of Ottorino De Lucchi and Raffaele Minotto. Minotto’s paintings, depicting the sumptuous interiors of Venetian villas, merge seamlessly with the timeless elegance of De Lucchi’s still lifes. During the vernissage, the artists will be present to interact with the public and share their artistic vision.

Raffaele Minotto guides the viewer through the rooms of historic palaces, evoking atmospheres rich in brocades and velvets, while Ottorino De Lucchi enchants with his dry brush watercolor technique, creating works that seem to pulse with life. The flowers and fruits in his paintings shine with an internal light, transporting the observer into a world of dreams and memories.

The exhibition will be open until March 1, 2025, presenting an unmissable opportunity to appreciate the art of two contemporary masters. Don’t miss the chance to visit PUNTO SULL’ARTE and be inspired by the emotions that “ECHI DI LUCE” has to offer.

Artists’ Biographies:

  • Ottorino De Lucchi (born in Ferrara in 1951) is a master of dry brush watercolor, known for his ability to transform this technique into dense and evocative works. He has exhibited in prestigious galleries and has taught at Ca’ Foscari University in Venice. He graduated in Chemistry and Pharmacy from the University of Padova. Throughout his life, he has always engaged in artistic activities alongside his career as a university chemist. During his time in the United States, he closely observed the work of Andrew Wyeth, becoming fascinated with the technique and virtuosity of his so-called “drybrush” paintings. Without further information, he began a series of experiments that led to the independent development of a completely original technique, both in execution and subject matter. Dry brush watercolor is a technique that requires great skill and concentration. The glazes and color applications obtained directly and through careful color removals allow results unattainable with other pictorial techniques. The evident contrasts created by touches of light have surprised many Italian and foreign art lovers, leading to Ottorino De Lucchi being invited multiple times to illustrate the technique in academies and art institutes. He has taught at Ca’ Foscari University in Venice in the Conservation and Restoration degree program. He has exhibited in prestigious galleries in Italy and internationally in France, Spain, Germany, and the United States and has participated in numerous trade fairs. At PUNTO SULL’ARTE, he has participated in the exhibitions “Ultrareale” (2022), “Naturae” (2020), “De Lucchi/De Lucchi” (2015), and several editions of the appreciated collective exhibitions “<20 15×15/20×20.” He lives and works between Padova and Folgaria.
  • Raffaele Minotto (born in Padova in 1969) studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice and has participated in numerous significant exhibitions, gaining recognition at both national and international levels.
His artistic career began in 1995 when he held his first solo exhibition at the Centro di Storia del Costume “Ieri Attualità” in Padova. Since then, Minotto has continuously exhibited his works, consolidating his presence in the artistic scene. In 2003, he presented the work he had produced during the early years of his career with the exhibition “Via Euganea,” curated by Giorgio Segato. In 2009, his painting was selected for “Contemplazioni,” a major exhibition curated by Alberto Agazzani at the Sismondo Castle in Rimini, which provided an effective perspective on Italian painting. This collaboration led to the creation of the catalog “Riessioni,” which analyzes the works created between 2011 and 2012. During this period, the exhibition was also presented at the Nino Sindoni Gallery in Asiago.Minotto received an important opportunity in 2011 when he was invited by Vittorio Sgarbi to exhibit at the 54th Venice Biennale in the Veneto Region section. Parallel to his painting research, he initiated the project “Acque misteriose,” representing a return to drawing in large format, exploring the theme of bathers. This project culminated in the realization of an exhibition of the same name in 2013 at the Sala della Gran Guardia in Padova, accompanied by a catalog documenting the proposed theme. In June 2012, the magazine “Graca d’arte” dedicated an extensive presentation to his engravings, signed by Prof. Paolo Bellini. One of his prints was nominated for the Premio Leonardo Sciascia 2015-16 and presented in traveling exhibitions in the cities of Palermo, Florence, Fabriano, and Milan. In the following years, Minotto’s work increasingly focused on the theme of interiors and banquets. The exhibition “Out of Focus” in 2017 at the SimonBart Gallery in Salerno offered a broader view of the subjects addressed in his artistic research. In the same year, TG5 Arti, a column on Canale 5 curated by Guido del Turco, presented a selection of his works to the general public, dedicating a short interview to him.In 2021, Minotto was invited to the “Veneto Felice” exhibition at the Le Carceri museum in Asiago, curated by Camillo Langone. From PUNTO SULL’ARTE, he was a prominent figure in the exhibition “Memories” (2019) and participated in some of the historic exhibitions “<20 15×15/20×20.” He has taken part in numerous solo and group exhibitions, consolidating his reputation in the art world. His works have been featured in the volumes “La pittura nel Veneto – Il Novecento” (Mondadori Electa, 2006) and “La Pittura nel Veneto – Dizionario degli Artisti” (Mondadori Electa, 2009).
He currently lives and works in Padova.
