THE ARTIST WITH THE BERET

by the editorial staff, June 2025

Giuseppe Veneziano opens up with irony, censorship, and coherence. From Sicily to the digital world, from subversive Madonnas to NFTs, the artist who paints the present without compromise returns to Varese with a new exhibition. A journey through his poetics, where figurative art and critical thinking merge into an accessible and deeply political language.

In September, Giuseppe returns to Lombardy with Piazze d’Italia at the Milanese gallery Antonio Colombo. In November, however, his solo show Ogni Favola è un Gioco (“Every Fable is a Game”) will be hosted by Galleria Punto sull’Arte in Varese, directed by Sofia Macchi, Swedish by origin and a Varese local by adoption. I emphasize the name of the director because Veneziano insists that the gallery should actually be named after her — “because she’s talented and deserves it,” he says.

As often with him, this choice is not driven by market strategies or self-promotion, but by a more instinctive code of empathy. “I prefer to exhibit with people I respect both personally and professionally,” he told me. Not surprisingly, both exhibitions are curated by the same Ivan Quaroni.
