The renowned Milanese artist duo Lorenzo and Simona Perrone present OF WHITE AND OF ESSENCE, their first solo exhibition at Galleria PUNTO SULL’ARTE in Varese. The artists showcase new, never-before-seen sculptures with powerful visual and emotional impact, transforming the gallery spaces into their signature white universe, where the book takes center stage.

In a world dominated by digitalization, where the written word and the sound of turning pages seem to vanish, the book becomes a container of culture, history, and reflection. Rescued from destruction, books that were destined for pulping are transformed in the hands of the artists into emotional sculptures. White, textured plaster crystallizes narratives that are powerfully relevant to today’s world — themes such as war, the plight of migrants, and environmental preservation — all conveyed through the precision of form and interplay of materials.

A book encased in a Platonic solid symbolizes the search for balance in a chaotic world, while a skull floating on the cover of a book evokes deaths at sea and the vanitas of the 17th century. These works offer a new interpretation of the world and its contradictions, while still preserving a sense of hope and redemption.
