FONDAZIONE VAF | Vaccaro Valeria | Artprize exhibition IX Edition

Ferrara Castello Estense 5 March – 4 June 2023

It is with great pleasure that we announce that the works of  VALERIA VACCARO, winner of the Second Prize of the VAF IX Edition Foundation, will be exhibited in Ferrara at the Estense Castle on the occasion of the second stage of the IX Prize of the Foundation after being exhibited, in May 2022, at the Stadtgalerie of Kiel in Germany.

From 5 March to 4 June 2023 the rooms on the main floor of the Estense Castle will host this prestigious event, established by the homonymous German foundation to support Italian contemporary art and boost cultural exchange between Italy and Germany.

The award, established in 2003 by the VAF Foundation to promote young Italian artists, is recognized with the aim of “promoting innovative positions in Italian contemporary art and communicating them in Germany by awarding a prize and through exhibitions and publications“. Over the years the organization of the competition has boasted numerous collaborations with important national and German exhibition venues, such as the Mart in Rovereto, the Museo della Permanente in Milan, the MACRO Testaccio in Rome, the Civic Museum of Palazzo della Penna in Perugia, the Institut Mathildenhöhe in Darmstadt, the Künstlerhaus in Graz and the Stadtgalerie in Kiel.

On display the nine finalists, protagonists of the contemporary scene: Luca Azzurro, Renata and Cristina Cosi, Silvia Inselvini, collective KEM, L’orMa (First Prize Winner), Enrico Minguzzi, Sebastiano Raimondo, Dario Tironi, Valeria Vaccaro.

During the inauguration of the exhibition at the Stadtgalerie Kiel in March 2022 the Jury of the VAF Foundation, composed of Cesare Biasini Selvaggi, Volker W. Feierabend, Daniela Ferrari, Elena Pontiggia had awarded VALERIA VACCARO the Second Prize “for the metamorphosis capacity of plastic materials”.

For Ferrara, the exhibition will be an extraordinary opportunity to project himself at the center of current artistic dynamics through the works of talented Italian artists. The reflection proposed by the organization of the event tries to observe with extreme attention the themes of the contemporary focusing not only on the most traditional genres of painting and sculpture, but also on photography and new media such as installations and video art.

The exhibition is accompanied by a bilingual Italian-English edition published by Manfredi Edizioni.
