Inferno Canto I by Lorenzo and Simona Perrone
Discover Inferno Canto I by Lorenzo and Simona Perrone, a sculpture inspired by the opening canto of Dante Alighieri’s Divine Comedy. Through an open book from which a forest of barbed wire emerges, the artists evoke the theme of being lost and the challenging journey toward knowledge. The artwork is on view at TAVOLO UNICO in Busto Arsizio, Italy.
The artists Lorenzo and Simona Perrone
Since 2006, Lorenzo and Simona Perrone have been developing LibriBianchi, an artistic project that places the book at the heart of their creative practice. Using real books transformed with plaster, water, and other materials, they explore themes of memory, culture, and the transmission of knowledge, creating works of profound symbolic meaning.
Description
In Inferno Canto I, the book transforms into a forest of barbed wire, symbolically recalling Dante’s “dark wood.” The sculpture represents the journey through life’s obstacles and the search for knowledge, inviting viewers to reflect on personal and cultural growth.
