Villaggio sloveno by Matteo Massagrande

With Villaggio Sloveno, Matteo Massagrande captures a quiet rural landscape where small houses and flowering gardens blend with the surrounding vegetation. A wooden gate gently leads the viewer’s gaze toward the village, among trees, rooftops, and sunlit surfaces. The scene conveys an intimate and peaceful atmosphere, where architecture and nature coexist in balance. The work is on view at PUNTO SULL’ARTE Gallery in Varese as part of the solo exhibition SOGLIE – Stanze, Paesaggi, Città.

Description “Villaggio sloveno”

In Villaggio Sloveno, Massagrande structures the composition through a sequence of planes that guide the viewer’s gaze from the garden in the foreground toward the village houses in the background. The gate and fence create a visual threshold that introduces the inhabited space, while light shapes the surfaces of rooftops, walls, and vegetation. The painting conveys a harmonious and contemplative vision of the landscape.

Conclusion

The work resonates with the theme of the exhibition SOGLIE, dedicated to spaces of passage and transition. In Villaggio Sloveno, the garden and the gate become elements of transition between nature and architecture, inviting the viewer to imaginatively enter the quiet space of the village. The artwork is on view at PUNTO SULL’ARTE Gallery in Varese until May 9, 2026.
