Il ponte by Matteo Massagrande
With Il Ponte, Matteo Massagrande captures a Venetian view suspended between architecture and light. The stone bridge guides the viewer’s gaze between timeworn façades and the narrow calli of the city, creating a quiet and contemplative scene. The work is on view at PUNTO SULL’ARTE Gallery in Varese as part of the solo exhibition SOGLIE – Stanze, Paesaggi, Città.

Description “Il ponte”
In Il Ponte, Massagrande builds the composition through the perspective of the steps leading up the bridge, guiding the viewer’s gaze toward the Venetian buildings beyond. The weathered surfaces of the façades interact with the solidity of the stone bridge, while light shapes the volumes and defines the geometry of the scene. The painting conveys an intimate and suspended image of the lagoon city.
Conclusion
The work resonates with the theme of the exhibition SOGLIE, dedicated to spaces of passage and transition. In Il Ponte, the bridge becomes a symbol of connection between urban spaces and visual perspectives, inviting the viewer to pause within the quiet atmosphere of Venice. On view at PUNTO SULL’ARTE Gallery in Varese until May 9, 2026.
