Horitzó Cabanes by Joan Peris
With Horitzó Cabanes, Joan Peris draws the viewer into a suspended landscape, where pictorial matter builds up in deep, silent horizons. The surface of the work—dense and vibrant—is crossed by chromatic contrasts and rich textures that evoke a boundary between sky and land, reality and perception. The composition, minimal yet charged with poetic tension, invites slow, contemplative viewing, almost meditative in nature.
The artist: Joan Peris
Joan Peris (Castellón, 1965) is a multidisciplinary visual artist who has lived and worked in Barcelona for over twenty-five years. His training during the 1980s and 1990s in graphic design, photography, and ceramics laid the foundation for a highly personal artistic language based on material experimentation and the fusion of different disciplines.
After more than a decade working as a ceramic designer, he developed a refined sensitivity to surfaces and forms—an influence that remains central to his pictorial practice. Over the years, he has exhibited in galleries and international art fairs, collaborating with spaces in Spain, Belgium, and the Netherlands, establishing himself as an artist in constant evolution.
Description of “Horitzó Cabanes”
The work presents itself as a fragmented, material horizon, constructed through layers of marks, colors, and textures. The horizon line becomes a symbolic element—a place of transition, balance, and quiet tension. Deep, earthy tones interact with lighter areas, creating a visual rhythm that recalls the landscape while transforming it into an abstract, inner dimension.
