"Bird Soul" di Simone Benedetto – Un’opera che indaga la figura del fanciullo come soglia di trasformazione tra umano e animale, dove il bambino seduto si unisce simbolicamente al gallo come espressione di un mutamento interiore e dell’istinto che emerge. In mostra presso la Galleria PUNTO SULL’ARTE nell’ambito di WILD SOULS.

Bird soul by Simone Benedetto

With Bird Soul, Simone Benedetto continues his exploration of the symbolic figure of the child as a threshold of transformation, in which human identity progressively opens up to an animal and instinctive dimension. The sculpture depicts a seated child, captured in a state of apparent stillness, above whom the presence of the rooster emerges—not as a simple narrative element, but as a projection of an inner process of change.

The artist: Simone Benedetto

Simone Benedetto was born in Turin in 1985 and graduated with honors in Sculpture and Plastic Arts from the Accademia Albertina di Belle Arti. His research focuses on the figure of the child as a symbolic device of psychological transformation. The child is never represented as a fixed identity, but as an evolving organism, suspended between human and animal states. Through extremely precise modelling, the artist gives visible form to the inner process of change that accompanies growth. Each work becomes a hybrid sculptural image in which animal elements emerge from the child’s body itself. He has taken part in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Italy and abroad and lives and works in Turin.

Description of  “Bird soul”

In Bird Soul, the child’s figure is constructed as a form in balance between presence and transformation. The child appears as a body crossed by an evolutionary tension. The presence of the rooster functions as a symbolic expression of this metamorphosis: not an external element, but a possible emergence of the animal instinct inhabiting the figure itself.

Conclusion

Within WILD SOULS, Bird Soul takes part in a dialogue devoted to childhood as an original space of connection with nature and with one’s instinctive self. The sculpture becomes an image of passage, where human and animal are not opposites, but states of the same identity in transformation. The work is on view at PUNTO SULL’ARTE until 13 June 2026.
