WILFRED LANG

Shanghai, 1954

As a perfect combination between Oriental and Occidental cultures, the style by Wilfred Lang is a perfect transition between realism and abstractionism. The one by Wilfred is a painting of action, made of gestures which narrate, emerging from the subconscious like they were produced by automatic writing. The skyscrapers and bridges, main protagonists of his works, are filled with a symbolical value rather than a realistic one, symbolizing the disproportion between human dimension and the metropolitan landscape, an extreme urban landscape. Wilfred has been able to create a unique style through tridimensional effects, from which a powerful magnetism – made of lights, effects and plain and nervous brush-strokes – emerges.

He was born in Shanghai in 1954, from a family of Dutch artists. After successfully attending the Fine Art College of his city, he moved to Hawaii. He took part into various exhibitions organized by leading Art galleries in New York, Barcelona, Hong Kong, Hawaii and various European capitals. Every year he is invited to the most prestigious European exhibitions of International Contemporary Art. He lives and works in New York.
