JACQUELINE DENGLER

Freurier, Switzerland 1944

In Jacqueline Dengler's paintings, matter, light and colour merge into an intense dialogue. The need for truth manifests itself through the research and revision of surfaces, kneaded and handled like clay, leaving original and unique traces which represent her. The surface is carved, deeply injured, to connect it with its inner side; the soul emerging from this process gives meaning and sense to her works.

She was born in 1944 in Freurier, Switzerland. She graduated as a teacher and then began to attend ceramic courses in Germany, French and Switzerland. In 1973, she opened her own atelier, carried on for 25 years. In 2000, Dengler embraced painting, experimenting different techniques, combining tar, acrylic, soil and pigments. She realized many solo and group exhibitions. She lives and works in Choëx s/Monthey, Switzerland.
