Lara Martinato

Lara Martinato pursues the dream of analog and evocative painting. She chooses her subjects like texts, breaks them down, analyzes them, retraces their spiritual anxiety, and uses them as an ideational pretext. She studies the compositional elements and uses them as tools for a vision in which the chalk-based base, tempera, and oil pursue an expressive measure that is timeless and devoid of history. Her work tells stories of lived experiences, highlights parabolic identities, and uses legends and symbolic paradigms as the essence of representation.

Lara Martinato was born in Busto Arsizio (Varese) Italy in 1967. After attending the art high school, she studied archaeology and conservation restoration at the Istituto per l'Arte Palazzo Spinelli in Florence. In 1991, she was in Paris where she graduated from the Université Catholique and visited the city's most important museums, being attracted to the execution techniques of the great masters. In 1995, she moved to Rome and began her professional career as a painter of theatrical and cinematographic sets with Maestro Michele Franculli (Cinecittà, Rai, Teatro dell'Opera). At the same time, she worked as a restorer and external consultant for the Superintendence of Cultural Heritage and as an interior decorator in important public and private venues. After a long stay in London, she returned to Italy, continuing her artistic-conceptual research by operating on the realities of contemporary society and esoteric mysteries. Since 2003, she has exhibited in solo and group exhibitions. Her works are included in public and private collections in San Petersburg, Cape Town, Miami, Rome, and Milan.
